Recently in Milwaukee it appears as though our city has gone mad.  There are senseless crimes all around, there are more poor people it seems than ever.  Plants around here are closing like crazy and the government seems to have no answers.  It makes a person stop and think is God dead?  Is he outdated or does he just not care.  Many people have wondered in the past this same question.  But the real question many of us want to know is does God care about me.  Yes I am concerned about the problems of the world but usually only as they affect me.  I am concerned about poverty because if people get desperate enough they may attack me.  Well this week I preached on Psalm 139 and it produced this answer to the question is God dead does he care about me.

"O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my every thought when far away. 3 You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am. 4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. 5 You both precede and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to know!" Psalm 139

This verse reminds me that God knows me completely and loves me absolutely. God is in control of all the events that happen because he is divinely in control the world he created.  And that my future and my presence is in his hands.  So God is not absent in my life He is very active in every aspect of my life.
