A couple of years ago around this time I went on my first Mission Trip to Juarez, Mexico.  Concordia University goes every year to build two homes for those who have nothing.  An organization called Casas Por Cristos send about four leaders to help us with the construction of these two homes.

The church picnic, Brat Fest, will be held on Sunday, August 17th after an indoor service. Schedule is as follows;
10:45 a.m. Worship Service
12:00-1:30 p.m. Lunch
1:30 - 2:15 p.m. Music
2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Games and more music.
Please bring a dish to pass, and your own beverages and lawn chairs.
Suggested donations are, Adults $2...Children (6-12) $1... Or Family $5.

Saturday May 24th at 5pm at Kops Park; there will be a BBQ stand selling Bratwurst, Italian Sauages, and Hotdogs. Concert by our local musician, Marcell. Everyone is asked to either bring a potluck side dish or donate $2.00, children are free with their parents.
*Donations will go toward purchase of fliers, posters, crafts supplies for kids, park benches, rose garden care, park event bulletin board, playground balls, etc...

The Daffodile bulbs have been planted in Outdoor Classroom Garden on 85th and Auer. Kop's Neighborhood Park Association needs help covering bulbs with wood chips. If you have time to share,  Please help out on Friday Nov. 23, at 10-11 am. Bring wheel barrels, shovels, and pitch forks. Kevin will bring hot coffe and brownies.

The Home Depot on 124th and Capital Dr. has thoughtfully donated 500 Daffodil Bulbs for our Sustainable Outdoor Garden on 85th and Auer St. This Sunday, from 8AM to 9AM. The  Kops Park Neighborhood Association will be  planting the bulbs for just one short hour. I know this is right before church service, but if you wish to help please bring  bulb planters or small shovels.

The Milwaukee School of Languages (MSL) and the City of Milwaukee Division of Forestry are partnering in the creation of an outdoor garden classroom at the triangle boulevard at the intersection of 85th and Auer Ave. Construction of the garden is scheduled in early September. The garden will be a low maintenance sustainable garden using primarily native prairie flowers.  MSL students, faculty and neighbors will plant and care for the garden, which will become an outdoor classroom designed to educate the students and neighbors on:

·        Sustainable Gardens (a garden primarily planted with perennial plants requiring little watering, weeding or maintenance.)

·        Wisconsin Ecology

         ·        Plant Identification

There will be a meeting at Kops Park Pavilion August 14th at 6:30 p.m. Director, Milwaukee, County Dept. of Park, Ms. Sue Black, will explain what are splash pads and how they differ from wading pools. The possibility for a transition to a splash pad will also be discussed.
